• GoPro live view is now off by default — the camera preview on the capture screen no longer runs unless you turn it on, so it stops competing with photo and video transfers over the GoPro's Wi-Fi. Turn it back on any time under Operator → GoPro → Live Preview (it takes effect after restarting the app)
• Choose which paper size your printer uses — a new "Use the printer's own paper size" option in printer calibration. If photos come out shrunk with white borders around them, turn this on and the printer lays out the page using its own paper setting instead of the app's

Improvements

• Broader DSLR live-view support — a wider range of camera models now show a live picture in the viewfinder instead of a blank screen
• DSLR live view recovers instead of giving up — if the camera stops sending frames, the app now tries a second live-view mode and keeps retrying about every 30 seconds. A camera that wakes up late comes back on its own
• Clearer DSLR messages when live view won't start — instead of a frozen viewfinder you'll see a note asking you to check the camera is in Live View or Photo mode and not asleep. It clears the moment the picture appears
• Background videos start smoother and use less memory — welcome-screen and mode-screen videos are now fed to the browser as they play instead of being loaded into memory all at once, so a large video no longer bogs the machine down

Fixes

• Videos play and seek on more machines — video files saved in a certain common layout used to show black on the welcome screen and in review; they now play and scrub correctly
• A background video that can't play falls back gracefully — if your chosen video is unsupported or missing, the welcome and mode screens now show your background image or gradient instead of going black
• DSLR connection failures are reported — if the camera can't be opened, you now see what went wrong instead of the screen sitting on "Connecting to camera…" forever

What's New

• Your Drive folder now follows your event name — new events start with a Drive folder named after them, and renaming an event renames the folder to match. Type your own name and it switches to Custom; the badge by the field shows which mode you're in, and "Use event name" puts it back in sync

Fixes

• No more duplicate photos in Google Drive — an automatic upload and a manual "Sync Now" firing at the same moment could send the same photo twice. Uploads now run one at a time, and Drive is checked for an existing copy first
• Renaming an event no longer re-uploads your whole folder — the folder is renamed in place instead of being rebuilt, so photos already in Drive stay put and a renamed folder is no longer mistaken for a deleted one
• Event names with apostrophes now sync correctly — a name like "Bob's Wedding" used to make the Drive folder lookup fail
• DSLR cameras set to RAW+JPEG can capture again — with both formats selected, every shot failed and left the viewfinder frozen. The app now selects a JPEG setting for you
• The viewfinder recovers from a failed capture — live view restarts on its own instead of staying frozen

What's New

• DSLR staged recovery boot sequence — when digiCamControl crashes or the camera disconnects, the viewfinder now shows a friendly step-by-step progress checklist ("Opening digiCamControl..." → "Waiting for server..." → "Hiding window..." → "Opening live view..." → "Live view ready") instead of a raw OS device path. Each completed step shows a green checkmark so you always know what's happening

Improvements

• DSLR live view is smoother and snappier — the frame polling engine now uses a steady 25ms cadence with up to 2 concurrent HTTP requests, so a slow frame doesn't stall the pipeline. The effective frame rate has nearly doubled, reaching much closer to the camera's native 30fps
• DSLR camera can now wake from sleep automatically — if your camera goes to sleep, auto-powers off its LCD, or the live view freezes while the camera is still connected, the app now detects it and seamlessly wakes the camera by cycling the live view window. You'll see a brief "Camera is idle — waking live view…" notice while the last frame stays on screen, no stream teardown or full reconnect needed. After 3 failed wake attempts, the app escalates to PTP re-enumeration before falling back to a full reconnect
• Faster disconnect detection when a camera is truly unplugged — if a camera was sleeping and then gets unplugged, the app now detects the real disconnect in about 3 seconds instead of waiting for the generic 150-frame timeout
• digiCamControl main window monitored for unexpected closure — if the digiCamControl main window is closed (even if the process stays alive), the app now clears the cached camera list and re-enumerates from scratch, preventing reconnection to stale device IDs that no longer work

Fixes

• DSLR first-frame timeout no longer fires during staged recovery — the recovery sequence can take longer than 30 seconds on slow devices, which previously caused a confusing timeout error while the stepper was still showing progress. The first-frame timeout is now suppressed during active recovery and only surfaces if recovery actually stalls
• DSLR live view resume notifications no longer spam on flickering streams — cameras whose stream flickers between a cached frame and a fresh frame no longer fire repeated "resumed" notifications or flicker the waking state on and off
